How to Get to Anawangin Cove Zambales

Zambales is one of the easy drive away and commuter-friendly beach destination from Metro Manila. It has almost everything for a quick escape—go beach hop, scuba dive with fishes and see the shipwrecks, explore Mt. Pinatubo, go on adventure in jungle safari and more.

It also has a lot of beaches to visit to include in your travel itinerary! One of its iconic tourist destination in Zambales is their famous beach coves.

Zambales has four famous must-see beach coves — the Nagsasa Cove, Talisayin Cove, Silanguin Cove and the Anawangin Cove with "Boracay-meets-Baguio" landscape that would make you feel like you’re in another country!

And probably you are here because you are planning for a Zambales beach trip and wanna know how to go to Anawangin Cove in Zambales? You are just in the right place.

Here's the full guide on how to get to Anawangin Cove in Zambales this 2020 by car (private car) or by bus (public transportation) from Manila or Olongapo as your starting point all the way to Anawangin Cove by boat from Pundaquit Beach or by trekking from Mt. Pundaquit.

I made this guide very detailed. I included pinned maps and photos on what you should expect to see on your way to Anawangin Cove which is very helpful for first-timers.

How to Get to Anawangin Cove Zambales

By Car

For your most convenient way to reach the Anawangin Cove in Zambales is by private car. You can use the Waze or Google Maps to guide for the best routes with the shortest amount of travel time. It will usually take you around 3-4 hours depending on season, day and traffic.

From Olongapo City, it will usually take you around 1-2 hours depending on season, day and traffic. But you can also rent a van which is recommended for your family trip.

You can book a van (good for 9pax), mini van (good for 4pax) or private car (good for 3pax) here; or check the available routes from Manila to Zambales or Olongapo City to Zambales on Waze or Google Maps.

By Bus (Public Commute)
Anawangin Cove in Zambales is also accessible for commuters, especially from Manila. It is also accessible for commuters from Pampanga, Bulacan and Olongapo City.

Here’s your guide on how to get there using public transportations from Manila and Olongapo City.

Manila to Anawangin Cove Zambales

1.1. Take a Victory Liner Bus from Cubao, Quezon City Terminal bound to Iba, Zambales or Sta. Cruz, Zambales and get off the bus at San Antonio Public Market/ San Antonio Bus Stop.

From Manila, take Victory Liner bus bound for Iba, Zambales or Sta. Cruz, Zambales at Cubao, Quezon City Terminal.

You can also ride bus from Victory Liner Pasay, Earnshaw or Caloocan Terminal with same bound going to Iba or Sta. Cruz Zambales. Then alight at San Antonio Public Market.

If you are from Manila Airport (NAIA), you can take bus bound to Iba or Sta. Cruz Zambales at Victory Liner Pasay Terminal.

The conductor usually announces the station/ bus stop whenever they'll make stop. If it’s your first time and you want to feel safety, you can ask the conductor or bus driver to drop you off at San Antonio Public Market (just like what my friends and I did when we went at Anawangin Cove for the first time).

Travel time: 4-5 hours depending on traffic

Bus fare: P288*-360 one-way ticket

TIP: To avoid travel inconvenience and you can't afford to stand on your way to Zambales (just like what happened to us that we almost run out of seats because we were on the "waiting list passengers") just book your ticket months or even at least three days before your actual trip.

Olongapo City to Anawangin Cove Zambales

1.2. Alternatively, you can take bus bound to Olongapo City from Victory Liner Cubao Terminal. Then take another bus going to San Antonio Public Market/ San Antonio Bus Stop.

From Manila, take Victory Liner bus bound for Olongapo City at Cubao, Quezon City Terminal.

You can also ride bus from Victory Liner Pasay, Earnshaw or Caloocan Terminal with same bound going to Olongapo City.

If you are from Clark Airport, you can take bus bound to Olongapo City at Victory Liner DAU Bus Terminal. Then change bus at the terminal bound to Iba or Sta. Cruz, Zambales.

There are 2 types of bus going to Olongapo City:

1) via DAU-SCTEX (faster route, with higher fare); and
2) via SAN FERNANDO (longer route, but smaller fare)

TIP: If you are on rush, you can take the faster route: Olongapo (via DAU-SCTEX); but if you are on a tight budget, you can just take: Olongapo (via SAN FERNANDO) and enjoy more travel time with your friends (or should I say, more sleeping time?).

Travel time: 4-5 hours depending on traffic
Bus fare: P226 + P59 = P285* total one-way bus ticket

2. Ride a tricycle and ask to drop you to Brgy. Pundaquit.

You will see the tricycle terminal across the street (just in front the Public Market). You can ask the tricycle driver to take you to your contact person’s place.

If you don’t have any contact in Brgy. Pundaquit yet, you can ask the tricycle driver. They will normally recommend you to someone that will make your tour arrangements.

Travel time: 20 minutes

Tricycle fare: P80 (for 2 persons); P40 (per person)

3. Rent a boat or hire a tour guide for your trekking from Mt. Pundaquit to Anawangin Cove.

Actually, there are two (2) ways on how you can arrive at Anawangin Cove, either by trekking from Mt. Pundaquit or by boat from Pundaquit Beach.

Each option has different experiences. Here are some information to help you choose:

a. By Boat

If you have no tour agency prior to your travel, island hopping boat tour arrangements are usually done by your contact person in Brgy. Pundaquit.

Boat ride: 30-45 minutes

Boat rates: P1200-3000 per boat

Pundaquit Beach in Zambales

b. By Trekking

If you want to try something fun and exciting activity, you can try trekking from Pundaquit Beach (as your jump-off point) crossing Mt. Pundaquit until you reach Anawangin Cove.

Trekking: 5-6 hours

Tour guide rates: P500 per tour guide

You finally arrived at your destination.

You can also try both ways (boat and trek). Just tell your contact person to arrange the tour with both trekking and island hopping boat tour.

To make the best experience out of your Zambales beach trip, I suggest you do both —trekking from Mt. Pundaquit to Anawangin Cove, then island hopping. Afterwards, you can use boat heading back to Pundaquit Beach.
