The Naive Gals On Top

I could say that this one is the most highlight part of my high school life —well, maybe in my entire life. This was when my best friends and I decided to join a dance contest "Synergy" in our school and couldn't believe that we would actually won!

Our journey towards winning the contest did not became as smooth as what you guys would ever think. Yes, we encountered a lot of problems and difficulties more than reliefs —which is very common from joining any contest.

I remembered, when we were just choosing our group title for this contest, our principal disapproved our proposal to be called as "Tha Naivers" as a group but she suggested we should name our group as "The Naive Gals" instead.

On our first elimination, we already did our best and unexpectedly got three (3) stars from the judges! Not to mention, that I do not actually dance! But for their sake not to get upset all because of me and since I don't want to embarrass myself in front of the crowd, I did beyond what I can and thank God that everything were worth the efforts.

While on our second elimination, we had even more great time practicing together. I remember we always got home very late just to practice and whenever some of us got the wrong step even we were already half way done of the music, we are still going to repeat it again from the top and we dance again until the elimination day. Moreover, we never expected to receive another three (3) starts from the judges!

All hardship were paid off when we got the last three (3) stars for the last elimination. For our last practice for final elimination, we did more than just our best because we thought that we are already here so we must strive harder even if we don't win but at least we are able to perform altogether in front of the crowd. I remember when we are about to perform for the finals, our school mentor for this contest did not even care for us, thus, we started our performance epicly but finished it superbly.

For the announcement of winners, they call first the "People Choice Award". We already knew it would be us, and it was because we're the highest likes on Facebook. Next, they started to call from third runner-up to the first runner-up. When we didn't hear our name in first two winners (the third & second runner-up) we already lose our hope to win further. We already know that we are not going to win because there are more great groups than us.

But when they called "Naive Gals" as the first runner-up (Ultimate Synergy Performers), we found ourselves shouting and jumping like crazy for a million times on stage! As for me, even for a short moment, I forgot that I am a shy person that would —unexpectedly— sit and hit the floor like the craziest while in awe that we actually won.

I would like to thank everyone, especially my best friends who believed in me and for not leaving me behind; to our families who supported us from the start until the end —especially to Jean's parents who made their home our shelter for our daily practice.

We made it, girls! That's how our name "Naive Gals" as a group was made.
